A big thank you to the survey group - M&S evicted with 9.7% - exactly right!

Michael & Spiral were evicted with 9.7% of the vote - exactly the same figure as our Friday poll below... Many thanks to all who participated - we've been 0.1% away from the actual figure before but this was our first ever "exact" result - perhaps due to the fairly neutral edit?

All You Need Is Hate

"All you need is Love" may have got The Beatles topping the charts for 3 weeks back in swinging '67, but with regards to this week's eviction they were way off.

This week we have a fascinating eviction contest in which love has played it's part, but has not been the crucial factor in deciding who goes. We could all see from the results of our special survey last week how you would feel towards the "tag-team" pairings up for eviction tomorrow. You would love Pete & Richard. You wouldn't really care about Susie & Imogen. You wouldn't really like Spiral & Michael.

So why will Spiral and Michael leave the house tomorrow, if it's a positive vote? How can we be so sure that Susie & Imogen will get positive votes when the overiding feeling towards them is one of intense apathy?

Here's how.

Of the 465 responses that we've had this week to our survey on who you want to save, 78% of you have either Pete or Richard as your 1st or 2nd favourite. A rational person would expect all of these voters to save their heroes (given that, of the second places, hardly any are ursurped by Susie, Imogen, Spiral, or Michael). However, only 82% of these voters choose to do so. The majority of the rest are being driven by their hatred for the Gruesome Twosome.

This is a large part of the reason why Susie & Imogen are attracting 3 times as many votes as the G.T., and this is why the G.T. will leave the big brother house tomorrow.

As I pointed out at the start of this week, it would appear that the voting public have not satisfied their desire for the smell of burning witches just yet..

Statman.

PS We've explained how to bet on the 9th Eviction on Betfair in our earlier post here

The 9th Eviction According To Special Bets;

We've had a little more fun this week since the disorganised start.

Betfair were a little slow on the uptake that there would be a change of eviction format this Friday and had the usual market up for almost 4 days before cancelling it and voiding all bets!

The absence of an eviction market meant the Special Bets team had to reaquaint ourselves with a place we're not often seen in - the bookies - (lots of them actually).

We had 2 reactions on visiting the bookie's shops, either they couldn't find the market on their screens as they paged through dog and horse racing menus OR - and we did enjoy this - some female BB watching cashiers squealed with delight as they saw our betting slips - which made us feel good...

There IS now an eviction market of sorts on Betfair - its a derivative but suits the purpose.

Friday is a vote to SAVE so Pete & Richard have approximately zero chance of leaving the house given Pete's huge fan base. The market below therefore (who will last the longest in BB), represents the eviction market. LAY Susie if you think Susie & Imogen are leaving the house on Friday and BACK Susie if you think the Gruesome Twosome of Spiral & Michael are - got that? Good!

The 9th Eviction According To Special Bets;

We haven't changed our position since our post earlier in the week when the survey group answered our "negative" eviction questions.

You really don't like these two (Spiral & Michael) very much. Spiral is your most disliked housemate and Michael your 3rd most disliked housemate;

Statman put this question in to think about potential tactical voting - what 2 pairs might you save if you chose to vote tactically?

And here's the simplified question - Which pair will you save?

So only 7.4% of you apparently want to save the Gruesome Twosome - you're a cruel bunch!

Click through the link below - some bookies are still taking bets on the G.T. and if you're a BB fan - you're probably pleased about the way Friday looks like going...

Preliminary Results Of Our "Pairs" Eviction Survey;

We're not in a "Happy Place" this week...

No sooner do the producers of Channel 4's Big Brother -Endemol UK's Brighter Pictures - announce a change in format for Friday's eviction causing Betfair to void the 9th eviction market, they also announce that Friday's eviction will be a positive (vs the usual negative) vote - "Who do you want to save" vs "Who do you want to evict".

This curious decision was the decision of some bod at Brighter being paranoid about losing their star - Pete - from the show due to his pairing with an unpopular HM - Richard.

Well of course we sent out a poll slanted toward negative sentiment (grrr) and I think Statman may be working on one that mimics the actual question right now - but as you will see from the data, Pete and Richard were never even close to being in danger of eviction... and you, the voters weren't worried either!

Yes, thus far it does look like the "Gruesome Twosome" will be the ones leaving your
tellybox come Friday. Perhaps Spoiral will entertain Davina with his primary school mic skills while Michael erm.. well...

We'll do a new, positive survey today with the HMs pairs up for eviction - (Suzie/Imogen, Sprial/Michael and Richard/Pete) Special Bets will get back to you...

"Friends Will Be Friends"

As usual the two (or more) housemates with the most nominations will be up for eviction.

BUT there's another twist...

What the "couples" won't know is that nominees will face the public vote along with their declared "best friend", leading to one PAIR of "Best Friends" being evicted in a double eviction live on Friday. So for example, if Richard is evicted, then Pete goes too.

A FURTHER twist is that Friday's eviction is a positive vote "Who do you want to save" vs "Who do you want to evict" so Pete fans will likely vote to save Richard ir risk losing their favourite. We'll be reporting back on a new survey by Tuesday night...

As Hate Dissipates

Greetings Statfans. Those of you that have been following the results of the special survey that we conducted last week regarding your feelings towards the remaining housemates will have already realised that we are currently going through an emotional transistion.

Since the start of this series of Big Brother you have been motivated by hate. We are now reaching the stage of the competition where the villians have largely been vanquished. Votes from this stage forward may well be settled by a more subtle blend of emotions, rather than being a simple exercise in "burning the witch".

However, I fear we are not witch-free just yet.

I noted last week that Spiral is "horribly exposed" by a lack of supporters, and on that basis he needed a well-loved partner this week to save him from the public's wrath. In Michael, he did not get this. Instead he got the worst form of partner possible : almost 90% of you can not bring yourselves to like this man.

I have taken your feelings regarding the housemates and produced an "index" for how you feel about the couples. It is a simple procedure of allocating points for being liked and subtracting points for being disliked to yield a net positive or negative reading. On a scale of -1704 to +1704, this is how they fared:

Pete & Richard: 672
Aisleyne & Jennie: 324
Glyn & Mikey: 46
Susie & Imogen: 45
Spiral & Michael: -491

I like it when things go without saying.

Best

Statman.
